OpenAI caves: Pro limits doubled and the cut is dead
A day before the planned cut, OpenAI reversed course: Work and Codex limits on every Pro tier are doubled, and the $200 plan won't be trimmed.

A month ago OpenAI said that from October 30 its $200 Pro plan would get half as generous: Work and Codex usage would drop from 20 times the Plus allowance to 10, and GPT-6 Pro messages from 200 a week to 100. Subscribers were loudly unhappy, and one day before the cut the company turned around.
Codex lead Thibault Sottiaux wrote in his daily post that OpenAI is doubling usage limits on all Pro tiers at $100, $200 and $500 plus Business Premium, effective today. The Pro 200 reduction is off. The separate extended limits for dots agents also stay for now and still don't eat into your main allowance.
In Plus terms, Pro 100 goes from 5x to 10x, Pro 500 from 25x to 50x, and Pro 200 stays at 20x. OpenAI's help page fills in the details. If you were already on the higher Pro 200 allowance, you keep it; if you signed up after the reshuffle and got the lower one, it has doubled to match. No need to wait for renewal, it applies automatically. Prices don't change, Plus is untouched, and weekly GPT-6 Pro message limits on Pro 100 and Pro 500 stay the same.
OpenAI does warn that twice the allowance doesn't mean twice the finished tasks, since that depends on the model and settings. Still, after a month of talk about a halving, this is a rare case where subscriber anger beat the deadline.
