OpenAI halves Codex limits for $200 ChatGPT Pro subscribers
From October 30, Pro 200 gets 10 times the Plus allowance in Codex instead of 20, at the same price. Existing subscribers get $2,500 in credits until the end of the year.

Starting October 30, ChatGPT Pro subscribers on the $200 plan get half the Codex and ChatGPT Work usage they had. Their allowance drops from 20 times the Plus plan to 10 times. The price stays the same.
The change hits people whose Pro 200 subscription was active at any point between September 22 and September 29. OpenAI let them keep the old limits through October 29. Anyone who signed up later is already on the smaller allowance. The GPT-6 Pro limit in chat also goes down, from 200 to 100 messages a week.
To soften it, existing subscribers got a one-time grant of 62,500 credits, which OpenAI values at $2,500. Credits are only spent after the plan's included usage runs out, and they expire on December 31. Pro still has no five-hour cap, and the company says it won't bring it back.
OpenAI's reasoning is that its models got more capable and efficient, so it now counts usage differently. The new ladder: Plus is 1x, Pro 100 is 5x, Pro 200 is 10x, and on top sits Pro 500 at $500 a month with 25x and the Ultrafast mode.
For people running Codex agents all day, the credits will cover the gap until the end of the year. The real bill shows up in January.
