OpenAI dropped a mysterious video, and the internet thinks a new model is near
Without a word of explanation, the company posted a 77-second animation about a museum of what could be. People are guessing whether OpenAI's next model made it.

Late on Friday OpenAI posted a 77-second video on X with a single line of text: "There are many futures. Which do you want to build?" No announcement, no model, no new feature. It passed 1.8 million views within a day, and people decided almost at once that it was a teaser.
The clip opens with the title "The Museum of What Could Be". Tiny figures wander through an empty pink hall, then everything twists into a hypnotic spiral of lines, arrows, physics formulas and neural network diagrams. One of the phrases on screen reads "optimism achieved internally", a clear nod to the old meme that OpenAI has secretly reached AGI behind closed doors.
The leading theory online is that the animation was made by OpenAI's next, still unannounced model. It is already being compared with Claude Opus 5.5, which recently built 3D cartoons on its own. One viewer spotted a scientist in the corner of the frame at 54-58 seconds with two overlapping left hands, which in their view gives away AI generation rather than hand animation.
OpenAI's Thibault Sottiaux added fuel. In the morning he wrote that the next two days would come with usage limit resets and added "do with this what you may". Many read it as a hint that there will soon be something worth spending the extra quota on.
OpenAI itself explains nothing, and there is no confirmation yet that the video is tied to a new model. It may simply be a pretty brand film. But this is exactly how the company tends to go quiet before something big.
