Nvidia pulls the RTX 5080: the card just vanished from its store

The RTX 5080 is gone from Nvidia's US store, right after the RTX 5090. Leakers say a 24GB version is coming to replace it.

Nvidia's US store has quietly stopped selling the RTX 5080. Pick that card in the official marketplace filter and the site says there's nothing to show. Founders Edition and partner cards are both gone, which leaves the RTX 5070 Ti as the fastest GPU you can buy there.

A couple of weeks ago the flagship RTX 5090 vanished the same way. Nvidia said back then that it had not been discontinued, yet retailers keep reporting empty shelves. Now the card one step below is following it.

Before it disappeared, the RTX 5080 had already climbed well past its $999 list price, with some retailers asking more than $2,000. That usually means stock has run dry.

Leakers say the 16GB RTX 5080 is being phased out to make room for a 24GB version, which could arrive in December or January, around CES. The extra memory matters beyond games, since it makes running local AI models much easier. The catch is that memory is scarce right now because of the AI boom, so the new card is unlikely to be cheap.

Nvidia hasn't confirmed any of this. The card is still listed in the company's UK store, though there's barely anything in stock.

Gamers, it seems, are in for more waiting and higher prices.
